Guess what: It's no legend.
Beautiful sunsets, glorious stargazing, and the solitude of this site all make it great for romantic dates. That same solitude lends it a slightly creepy atmosphere (especially when a breeze stirs the creaky swings,) encouraging groups to go out for night games and other antics.
Fun personal story: My roommate and I went out there with some of his friends last summer and hid behind a bush. When it was dark, a couple of guys with a bunch of girls piled out of a minivan and walked carefully towards the swingset. One girl expressed concern about how a murderer could “hide so well out here.” He and I looked at each other, dripping with excitement at how awesome this was going to be.
Long story short, we burst out screaming bloody murder. The squeally girls panicked and ran back to the van (so did the guys!) but one girl locked herself in and refused to open it for anyone else. We explained who we were and calmed them down, but oh! It was hilarious.

Just read your blog and thought I'd share our experience tonight. So its Saturday night - decide to go out to the "rexburg haunted swings." We get there and there is a group of college kids on the swings and another big group chillin out in the field of dirt. It's pitch black outside of course. The group on the swings leaves so we get on the swings and then the bigger group leaves a little later. We're out there alone for awhile when we decide to head out. As soon as we are in the car buckling our seatbelts there is a loud BOOM on the ouside of our car - someone or something wacked it. Hard. Everyone in the car is freaking out, I look back and swear I see a figure. Ron our driver peels out fast. Later we found a pair of handprints on the back window. We have no idea where the crazy freako who did this was hiding. All we know is that they were watching us as we were out there in the dark. Alone. Creepy. Never going back there. I swear this is a true story.
ReplyDeletedude that is soooo creepyyy!!!! im scared to go there!
DeleteI've been there multiple times it's freaky at night. We've had hand prints on the hood of the car. We have had stuff thrown at us. But the creepiest of all is the house. If you don't know about the house go at 3 in the morning. A house will appear on the road.

ReplyDeleteTrue story...
ReplyDeleteI went out there last winter semester on a double date. Right as we were walking to the swings, one of the guys starts basically "calling up the spirits" and he was truly egging them on. "You're not really real!" "Come out here and show yourself!" Right as he was finished with his little comments, I went to grab the swing to get on it. Out of no where, I somehow slipped and my feet flew out from under me and I landed on my back. It hurt really bad. I swear, I slipped on nothing. I had hold of the swing too but it flew out of my hands and was rocking back and forth when I was laying on ground trying to catch my breath. I believe it was one of the ghosts. Don't mess with the other side! We are counseled not to do that! And look what happened. Learned my lesson forrsure! But it was a fun memory :)
In early 2012, I was working a photography project and I asked a few friends if I could take their pictures. So we drove around looking for the right places and we came upon this swing set in the middle of nowhere. So I had them take turns by the swing set on the swing and nothing in particular happened. Then we just left to find more places to take photos. there was nothing creepy about this swing set. There were no ghosts in the photos and there was also no sign that said no trespassing at this time.
ReplyDeleteI was killed by the ghost it really hurt.
ReplyDeleteWent out to the "haunted swingset" this evening with a couple friends. We had heard stories and found this old blog with the address and decided to check it out. As we pulled up to the location we noticed a small hut on the property with smoky windows. The swingset is still there, but there is now a small silo looking hut that gave us the creeps. As we got up to the driveway, this feeling of dread and fear came over us. It was as if something was telling us that we shouldn't be there. I believe it was the Holy Ghost telling us we were not in a safe place, but either way we flipped a u-turn and got out of there.
ReplyDeleteNow, it could've just been the amount of true crime and paranormal videos we've watched, but I believe there was something wrong about this place. Two of us felt that it was a bad/sinister place and the other friend started feeling nauseous as we approached the property and drove away. She felt immediately better once returning to town. So, as they always finish the YouTube videos...was it paranormal? It's up to you to decide.
